I would love to participate in the JET (Japan) or EPIK (South Korea) teaching/exchange programs after I graduate from University. The thing is, I lived in Thailand and went to school there, speak the language, and love the people and the country itself. If a reputable program exists in Thailand, I would find it difficult to ignore such an opportunity to return to the country which I love!
From what I\'ve read about the JET program, airfare and a housing stipend are provided as well as pay and training. I\'ve found a TEFL Thailand program, but something about it seems sort of sketchy. I need to do more research on it. Anyway, I would love a program which is endorsed by the United States government as well as the Thai government and one which covers airfare. I do not care as much about the compensation (I know that the Thai government probably wouldn\'t pay as much as the Japanese or South Korean programs pay), but airfare is an important factor for me, because as a University student, I do not have much money! I would also like a program which has an orientation and a strong support system with other participants and perhaps mentors... It would be nice not to just be thrown into a situation, but that is not as important as being a reputable program which covers airfare.
It has occurred to me that I could teach in Japan or South Korea and visit Thailand, I know that Japan and South Korea are wonderful countries as well, but I think that I would be a much more effective teacher in Thailand.... (You know, besides the fact that I love Thailand!)
Thank you for your help. ^_^
I should add that I am not interested in a study abroad program as much as a program which helps teachers work in Thailand... I AM interested in study abroad if it is a 100% scholarship, but my question pertains to teaching/working opportunities in Thailand which are trust worthy.
